KILLS ANIMALS not fleas i purchased this product last year 3 days later 2 of my dogs were almost dead. i took them to the vet he said that month he had a rush on people bringing in sick animals from this product. It was new to us around here in stores. and he also stated not all owners were as lucky as i was.
Be VERY careful with Hartz products Hartz products have been known to cause severe illness and even death in younger animals. I've been a veterinary technican for 16 years and have seen their products do some terrible things. If you can avoid using them do so.
Warning! I have used this product on a regular basis on several different dogs over the past 20 years or so because it does seem to work well at keeping fleas under control. HOWEVER.Our newest dog a Chihuahua named Foxy has shown me that this product can cause major seizures in dogs. Within 2 hours of bathing her she had a terrible seizure then a few weeks later the same thing happened. She has only had 1 other since I stopped using this product a week later. So far she seems ok a month later. But after doing some research I have discovered that we were far from alone. How this product is still on the shelves is beyond me! [] is 1 of many sites with much information on how dangerous and deadly this shampoo and the Hartz drops can be.
Great value works well smells good This flea shampoo works pretty well in my opinion. It kills the fleas right away and it smells good. It may take a couple baths to kill every single flea because they often hide when you start bathing your dog. I would suggest washing around your dogs ears first because they like to hide there.
WARNING!!! I would not use this shampoo if i was you. My dog had fleas so i picked up this shampoo for my dog at Petland and the next day my dog had uncontrollable shaking. I had to bring him to the vet and the vet said it was the shampoo that the Hartz Flea shampoo has done this to many dogs. Stay far away from this shampoo if i was you.
Flea control This is a good dog shampoo that works well killing the fleas. It smells good.
Great scent Hartz almost always produces great products for my pets. This shampoo has a great scent that lasts.
THIS STUFF MADE MY DOG SICK !!!!! It killed the fleas sure and made her sick within a few hours !! DO NOT BUY THIS. I have a 53 pound english Bulldog. I bathed her with this product that I thought was safe because of the name brand. HA what a lie. I am telling everyone and posting this on youtube as I have it on video. [] because they seem to have alot of bad products out there. I had no idea !!!! HARTZ is awful. This company has an incredible number of animal injuries and deaths.don't believe me? start doing a search on it.
Quick but not long lasting. I have used this product a few times now on my two dogs.The nice thing is it kills flea right then and therethey are gone.The bad thing is the fleas will be back within 24 hours or less.So as nice as it is to be rid of the fleas it doesn't keep them off the animal for any good deal of time.I will finish off the bottle over time I am sure but once its gone I will not be purchasing it again.

No wonder it's so much cheaper than other brands I didn't buy this from Amazon but I will say that it is a terrible product. Not only does it not work but it made my cat sick each time I used it. It doesn't absorb into his fur fully so he can lick his paw and then rub it on his neck and lick his paw over and over again until he's eaten a bunch of the flea medicine. I thought maybe I was applying it incorrectly the first time but the same thing happened the next time too no dead fleas and my cat was mopey and miserable for a few days each time. Do yourself and your cat! a favor and spend the few extra dollars on a better product.
Dangerous Product We have a 9lbs cat. She goes out about 5 mins a week just to sniff around on the patio.We also have an old dog and we know she had fleas and were afraid she might have spread them around the house. To be safe we put Hartz Ultra Guard Pro on the cat. Big mistake. Following the instructions we put the drops at the base of her neck. Who knew cats could lick the backs of their necks. Of course cats can lick every spot on their body. I don't know how safe the product is if only used externally but on a cat it's going to get licked. There were lots of symptoms to the point I thought we might have to take her to the vet. We washed her and put a cone around her neck to keep her from doing more licking but the damage was done. I don't recommend this product unless you are trying to get rid of your cat. I recommend a flea collar.
Seems like the expensive brands are putting in bad reviews I have excellent results with this inexpensive brand. the big expensive brands are just ripoffs and do not work any better. some of the bad reviews are just saying the same thingmakes you wonder.
Made our cats very ill!! Since the option of zero stars is not available I gave it 1 star. I bought the Hartz Ultra Pro to save a few dollars. BIG MISTAKE!! Our 17lb. cat did not suffer any adverse effects but our other 2 cats did. Our Persian cat who is 8lbs. immediately started scratching her neck. She scrathed a lot the first day. We noticed clumps of her hair around the house. My youngest cat who is 7 lbs. became very lethargic and hid in the bathroom for about 12 hrs. We were so worried about her that we thought we were going to have to take her to the Vet in the middle of the night. She has slowly started feeling better. It has been 2 1/2 days since I applied the poison. The 2 effected cats are almost back to normal. I can't believe this stuff is even allowed to be sold due to all of the horrible side effects. I feel so blessed that none of our cats died. Our whole family would have been devastated.I wish I would have read the reviews first.

If your cat can lick it then its not good for them! I also didn't know cats could lick the back of there neck either. I bathed my cat 2 days ago because I noticed she had gotten fleas. First time since I got her in 6 years. So the next day I realized she still had them so I went and bought these drops from the store. Boy I wish I had not done that. In the morning when I woke up to check on her she had drooled all over the couch and all over her bed area.
Should be Illegal!! Horrible stuff. Just like others I just got done giving my cat an emergency scrub down with dawn in the bathtub. It is toxic to pets my cat was blinking and squinting in strange ways Ive never seen as if it had some neurologic effects on her. BAD bad stuff. Gonna check out some better brands.
HARMFUL!!! I used this product on my 2 cats. The older one had no issues but my 2 year old experienced drooling leg twitches irritation and odd behavior. Her behavior scared me so much I contacted the company but have heard no response. I washed the product off but we will be making an emergency vet trip tomorrow if her symptoms haven't eased up.
wish I'd thought to check here first! We took in a stray a few months ago and though she's long gone to a new home her fleafilled legacy remains to torture our housecat. After giving him a bath yesterday I figured better safe than sorry and bought this treatment as well. I didn't get it from Amazon but from my local grocery store Hartz Plus was the only option they had for cats so I got it despite the $11 price tag.
DESERVES 0 STARS!!!! I bought this to PROTECT my 3 cats against fleas. But after seeing them experience symptoms including a back leg twitch fur loss and lethargy fleas seem to be a better option! Thankfully I was still within the 24hr window where you're not supposed to bathe them and managed to wash it all off and they're all feeling much better now. They thankfully never lost their appetites or had any life threatening symptoms but this was scary enough for me to take action. Anyone who is reading this please wash this horrible product off your pets using a mild dish soap as soon as possible after application! On top of the horrid symptoms the stuff is makes their fur look greasy and dirty and it does not dry!On top of that on the back of the box Hartz tries to justify themselves by stating that sensitivities may occur with ANY pesticide treatment Does that make you feel better about yourselves? You should all be arrested for animal cruelty. The Hartz people are disgusting and I wonder how they sleep at night knowing that they're poisoning animals! I will be contacting the store where I bought this product the EPA FDA and HSUS about this.

Doesn't Work as Advertised Our little rat terrier attracts fleas like a comic book convention attracts costumed attendees. We've tried several different flea collars including the HARTZ ULTRA GUARD FLEA AND TICK COLLAR. The box says that this collar is supposed to offer 7months of protection. It's supposed to kill fleas and ticks and prevent the hatching of flea eggs. The collar does seem to work but it only lasts for about 23 months. After that time our little dog is once again scratching and biting. Until recently I was unaware of the multiple lawsuits against the Hartz company. Personally we've never had an issue with Hartz products but after reading about the lawsuits it is something one should be aware. Overall though the HARTZ ULTRA GUARD FLEA AND TICK COLLAR works it doesn't work for as long as it says it does. I recommend using a flea and tick collar from a different company.
If you love your pet don't buy Hartz products!!!!! Two days ago I purchased six flea collars for my cats ranging in age from 152 years. All were perfectly healthy up to date on their shots had terrific appetites and no problem using the litter box. Tonight I have six very sick catsthe oldest worse than the others. They are lethargic throwing up their eyes are matted and they are not using the litter. They are on expensive urinary health dry food and are indoor cats. They ONLY new thing in their life has been the damned flea collars. Tomorrow I will be taking all six to the vet. DON'T USE HARTZ PRODUCTS!!!! I wish I had gone on the web to read what other pet owners had to say about this company before making my cats ill with this defective product.
Is there an option for zero stars? I have NEVER bought a Hartz product that worked period. STAY AWAY from anything they make. You'll have to be careful as they like to put out products under different brand names but if you look carefully you'll eventually find the Hartz name or logo. Money in the trash.You're better off with Sergeant products. You might have to pay a little more for some of their stuff but you get what you pay for. Sergeant's stuff works.
Completely Effective! I have purchased this product several times over the past years and have found it completely effective in preventing flea and tick infestations on my dog. One has to remember to stretch the product to break the seal before putting it on the animal as there is a thin waxlike seal/coating on the boxed product which preserves the effectiveness of the product until use.
Works better than drops I used to use those drops for my dogs for fleas and ticks but after using a very expensive brand of flea drops and still getting a full flea infestation which required fumigation I switched to flea collars upon a friend's advice. I will never go back to the drops pills or anything but flea collars.
Works but.. I used Hartz UltraGuard OneSpot on my cat and it did get rid of the fleas but it left his hair a matted greasy mess. Three weeks later it's still that way. I've even washed the hair on his neck but it's impossible to remove the grime. Unfortunately he's a longhaired white cat and it looks terrible. I'm going back to alternating Frontline and Advantage.
Not worth it I was using Frontline on my Beagles and Chihuahua for years it worked great but its a bit pricey times three so I looked for some possible treatment solutions between the spot ons.This product and the Hartz flea spray I purchased along side it did not work at all. My dogs went from totally flea free to itching after their walks. Then the cat who wasn't on a flea specific treatment as she never goes outside and the dogs had previously never brought anything in started itching too.I immediately went back to using Frontline on the dogs and now Revolution on the cat.I also recently discovered the multitudes of lawsuits and websites against Hartz.
Victims due to this product Go to Hartzvictims.OrgI am not a crusading nut my cat got poisoned by this stuff. I applied it correctly. Within an hour she had seizures and tremors. 4 days of an uphill battle for her. She is now fine but please don't harm your animals using this stuff. Same with BIOSPOT or Sargents.
